Dental Cleanings Overview
Here at Pearly Whites Dental, we proudly offer dental cleanings to our patients. According to the American Dental Association, you should have exams and cleanings at regular intervals as specified by your Pearly White’s dentist.
Many people need cleanings every six months to keep their teeth and gums healthy. But, if you’re prone to cavities or gum disease, your dentist may need to see you more often. For example, it’s common for people with gum disease to see their dentist every three to four months. This is because oral bacteria populates quicker in some individuals. Ask your dentist what type of cleaning schedule is right for you.
What Happens During Dental Cleanings?
After dental cleanings, we will polish your teeth so that they shine! If needed, we will apply fluoride to your teeth. We will also preserve any artificial teeth (or teeth that have been restored).
After your cleaning, we will do a thorough examination so that we can see how your teeth are doing. We will look around to ensure you don’t have any problems that need to be taken care of. It is our goal to catch any problems and fix them before they become bigger ones. We will also go over home care if you need to change anything you are doing.
